Peninsular Paper Company: Adaptive Reuse

For this project, we worked with an existing abandoned building shell to create a performance venue that optimizes site performance. The site of the Peninsular Paper Mill is situated on the Huron River in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This project explores how the site and solar patterns influence movement patterns through the building and northern exterior approach. Existing site elements such as a direct entry road, far-traveling ambient sound, and a pleasing view of the river influence how people spend time within the performance venue and cafe.
